"Talent is inborn. Know-how is acquired." Wishcraft, Gottlieb and Sher
I like to pretend that I'm always the polished and manicured guy in the photo, but sitting on the couch this morning trying to balance an overly full cereal bowl, typing, and a beagle badly wanting attention, I understand that sometimes that photo represents an ideal, not necessarily 24/7 reality.
For the past two years I've been a Sales Associate at Findlay Volkswagen in St. George. It was a great organization to work for, I was successful and learned a lot, but my wife and I decided it was time for something different. Prior to car sales I was a university theatre professor for over 23 years. (Contact me and I'll tell you the story behind that transition.) So, now I'm working on a new venture, taking the experiences that I've had, and using them to try and help others. Stay tuned.

(Some details about my university work experience.) I primarily taught performance classes, but I have also taught Theater History, Stage Makeup and other courses. I served as theatre program administrator at Dixie State University for 11 years, shepherding the program through significant growth and the transition from a two year to a four year program. I've directed a wide variety of productions, including; Sweeney Todd, Jekyll and Hyde, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol and The Cripple of Inishmaan. In 2013 I began a travel study program to the United Kingdom where students visit London and perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I was co-founder and director for The Comedy Storm, The Vagabond Theatre Company and The Space Between Theater, and also helped establish The Neil Simon Festival, where I have performed and directed. I served The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, (KCACTF), as a production respondent, circuit coordinator, Irene Ryan acting competition respondent, and regional festival site coordinator. I also served as a director for the 10 Minute Play & New Play Development Workshops at regional festivals from 2004-2008. In 2011 I received the KCACTF region 8 Excellence in Theatre Education award. From 1992-2000, I taught theatre courses for Utah State University’s Uintah Basin Branch Campus, where I directed, served as Producing Artistic Director for the Outlaw Trail Theatre, and was a board member of two local Arts councils. From 1996-98 I was a member of the selection committee member for the Utah State Governor’s Award in the Arts. From 1995-98 I served as a Community Arts Council Advisory Panelist and grant reviewer for the Utah Arts Council, and for several years my original script and presentation about Major John Wesley Powell’s exploration of the Grand Canyon was popular program on Utah Humanities Council’s presenter’s circuit. I have also been on faculty at The College of Eastern Utah, and Utah State University, where I redesigned the department’s acting program. I am a graduate of The Ohio State University and Southern Utah University. My wife Andrea and I are the proud parents of five children.
